The birth of Original RAGZ ® Swim Sweats ® started before the birth of my first child. It all began while I was a few months pregnant with my first son. I decided that I was going to make the transition to being a stay-at-home mom. I was thrilled with the idea, but also a little apprehensive as to how I was going to fill all of the hours in the day. I also wanted to be able to help my husband in providing for our family financially.
I was brainstorming options on working part-time and doing something from home. I remembered a special birthday present I had made for my sister a few years prior and it dawned on me that I had the perfect idea. I had been a competitive swimmer for ten years and a swim coach for seven. My younger sister was also a swimmer and asked me to make her a pair of pants out of towels that she could throw on after practice and between races. I did. She was bombarded by people asking her where she got them. So as the birth of my son continued to near, I decided that I should develop a pattern for these “towel pants” and see if it wouldn’t be something that would be a fun little part-time job for me.
I first brought my products to market at a Colorado state swim meet in 2003 and was overwhelmed with the positive response. I couldn’t get the pants out of the boxes fast enough. Since then the company has continued to grow. We have increased our product line, and have spread throughout the country simply by word of mouth. I have since recruited a business partner (my husband) to run the back-end of the business full-time.
As we continue to grow, we pride ourselves on the fact that we listen and we change. We are excited about all of the changes coming in the years ahead, but will never stray from how it all began. Our products will always be versatile, practical, and most importantly…fun!
